A family of four has outgrown their two-bedroom rental and is willing to take on a fixer-upper in order to stay in their hometown of Burbank, California. Once they lock in a home, they start a few projects on their own, but learning renovation by trial and error starts to get costly. They bring in a designer and contractor for reinforcements, but soon learn they must take out a big bite of their design budget to update their old electrical and have their place abated. With each twist and turn they uncover more problems but eventually bring their young family home to a house that exceeds their expectations.​
